Some useful definitions

Pressure-sensitive labeling : Labels produced with three layers : paper, transparent adhesive, and backing. When then backing is removed and pressure is applied the labels with adhere to most surfaces

Metallix printing system : A printing system that does not require the use of metallic inks. Colours and metallic effects are built up using stochastic and halftone screening for the different print elements, together with two registered varnishes, achieved inline.

Two passes of ink : Printing the same colour twice, with the second pass of the press printing directly over the first to create a deeper , more intense, result.

Hot foil Stamping : Application of heat and metallic film in a specialty printing process that produces a shiny design on paper, vinyl, textiles, wood, hard plastic, leather, and other materials. Foil stamping is also called hot stamping, dry stamping, foil imprinting or leaf stamping.

"Soft Touch" varnish : A varnishing effect that has a light sponginess, leaving a slight softness the surface to which it is applied.

UV varnish : A plastic-based varnish applied by screen-printing, available i matte, satin, and gloss finishes. It can be applied over the entire surface or treated as a spot varnish, enabling the designer to print elements purely as a varnish or to highlight selected elements on the page.
