It's all about print

Digital
Screen
Pad
Rotary

1. Digital Printing

this is a method of printing that is digital based and the design is printed directed from a computer to stock. It is preferably used for a small run print jobs ( no more than a few hundred) as it is more expensive to run and the process is also slower. Digital printers use process colours (CMYK ). Types of digital printers include, inkjet and laser print

Ink Jet printers use wet ink cartridges and the ink is applied with the head which sweeps over the stock. Laser printers

Laser printers use a toner that is applied to paper by a static electricity causing the coloured toner to stick to the paper.

2. Screen

Screen printing as most people know it is a very craft based technique of printing. However, there are actually automatic screen printing machines for mass production. You can both print using process colour but it is more common that people use the spot colour method. You can print onto any surface with screen print as long as that surface is flat. Most fabric prints are done through screen printing eg. T-shirts and etc.

3. Pad

Pad printing is a technique used to apply 2D images onto a 3D surface. Therefore things like mugs, bottles that have prints on them are most likely to have been done through Pad printing.
